Mining
Afghanistan is rich in abundant natural resources, most of which are still untapped. Mineral resources have the potential to become a driver of poverty reduction and economic development by increasing national revenues and supporting livelihood and employment opportunities. The mines must be extracted in a sustainable and accountable manner. Still, only a small amount of Afghanistan mines have been extracted due to the geographical remoteness of the mines, poor infrastructure, insecurity, weak rule of law, lack of well-trained technical experts, weak contracting, and conflict.
In collaboration with our partners, we offer the following services.
- Providing support in the design and implement of policies for extracting resources
- Conducting environmental and social impact assessments
- Designing and implementing capacity building programs
- Developing studies to assess and monitor the social, cultural, and economic impacts of mining strategies on local communities
- Contract development and rules and regulation development.
